Site Visit

Morning site visit. Tranquility on the banks of an inland Lough.

Washed in by the Wild Atlantic - Saltpans Cottage

We enjoy allowing what we find on site to influence the tonal or textural finish of elements of our buildings. The intertidal zone which bounds the edge of our Saltpans Cottage site hosts a rich and everchanging array of shells; periwinkles, augers and whelks.

Top left is the lime render to an existing structure on the site which employs sea shells in its mix. Top right is a close up of a new window cill to Saltpans Cottage with roughly exposed sea pebble and shell aggregate.

Bottom left are the wonderfully glossy periwinkles on the shore adjacent to Saltpans Cottage. Bottom right is the colourful polished concrete floor to the cottage extension.

Insulated Foundation System on Rathmullan House

The fully insulated Kore foundation has been completed on site. The system provides a U-Value of .11W/m2K and is free of cold bridges. The system reduces both time on site and the quantity of concrete required. The reinforced concrete slab was poured recently.

Our Cultural District Project in The Irish Times

We look forward to seeing the social benefit it fosters. Read more about it in the Arts & Ideas section of The Irish Times today.

Planning Granted for Saltpans Cottage

We have recently been awarded planning for a cottage refurbishment and extension. Our comprehensive planning application, including a natura impact statement, ensured a successful result on a mature wooded site which bounds a special area of conservation and special protection area.

Defining The Future of The Rathmullan Napoleonic Gun Battery

Pasparakis Friel are delighted to have won, through an open etender process, a commission to undertake a feasibility study to explore potential future uses for a Napoleonic era gun battery in the idyllic seaside village of Rathmullan, Co.
